M.NII MAKAHA SHORTS - THE STORY CONTINUES

During my visit to Capsule Paris I bumped into Matty Moeck who enthusiastically presented me the M.Nii collection.  The story of M.Nii goes back to the 50's on the island of Oahu, Hawaii. The village Makaha was a surfer's paradise on the west side of the island. Down the road, at a mom-and pop tailor shop called M.Nii, some of the first surf trunks were made. First local wave riders brought their "baggies" to M.Nii's for repairs. Recognizing the need for durability and comfort M.Nii built simple trunks made specifically for surfing. With feedback from some of the best surfers of that era, he added stripes, wax pockets, patches. They earned a nickname the "Makaha Drowner".
Today it's a full collection with of course the surf shorts but also shirts, Tees, Sweaters, trousers and even blazers styles which "the Duke" would had love to wear. You can find M.Nii @ Barney’s, Steven Alan, Ron Herman, Beams Japan. Let the summer start and let the waves hit the shore, I'm ready.

Wow, just one word I really enjoyed my time in Paris, met a lot of nice and interesting people
and saw some amazing new FW 14 collections. Above you see the first part of a selection of pictures I took @ Capsule Paris. I really was blown away of the new Filson - Nigel Cabourn collab.
Some very interesting items for a great price. Furthermore the collection of Gloverall looks great and what to say about those Eat Dust boots. Stay tuned for more in the coming days.

GET YOUR HANDS ON.......MITCHUMM INDUSTRIES

Robert Mitchum gets his hands on Simone Silva

Mitchumm shirt patterns

Mitchumm cuffs with mother of pearl buttons

Mitchumm Industries @ Capsule Paris 2012

The first time I got in contact with the brand Mitchumm Industries was at The Capsule Show, Paris. They presented a full range of shirts and scarfs all stone washed with BIO wash. All shirts come with 100% mother of pearl buttons. A cool detail on the shirt is that the last button is made in a red heart-shaped button (damn, wish I had a picture to show you). The brand is a tribute to California and the American actor Robert Mitchum, the brand was born in 1976 on the West Coast in Manhattan Beach near Los Angeles. started with some T-shirts and printed swimtrunks.  Since 1983 the collection is in Italian hands and expanded to a full range. Alessandro Tino melts the best of both worlds, the American roots and the "made in Italy" identity.

Today I spent some hours at the Capsule Paris, this was my first visit and I was surprised by the great atmosphere, nice people, perfectly dressed, not to peacocky but just right. Nice selection of brands some well known, some with a heritage and some unknown and undiscovered. You could easily look through the collections with a sales guy hanging in your neck. I found some new brands (new for me) which I will introduce to you later. for now enjoy the pictures.
