CHAD'S STORE LOCATOR IRON & RESIN GARAGE - VENTURA, CA

When I walked through the streets of Ventura, I smelt the scent of gasoline, leather, and wax when I passed by a 100-year-old building pilled with clothing, boots, surf gear and motorcycles.

In 2012, Thom Hill & Jackson Chandler started Iron & Resin in a sleepy SoCal beach town Ventura their company called Iron & Resin. Both of them worked in the surf industry and heavy bored with the pointed sameness of brands surrounding them. Iron & Resin was meant to be a throwback to the days when a couple of California boys could fall into business just because they were doing something they loved. In that perspective, Iron & Resin takes made-in-America commitment, motorcycle cool, maker aesthetics, and a dash of core-surfer sensibility and comes out with a lifestyle brand.

Of course I could left empty handed and bought myself an Iron & Resin mug and patch.

Whenever you wil be in Cali make sure you check out this beautiful curated store:

ALOHA CHAD - WELCOME TO HAWAII

After some days of fun in LA my next stop is Hawaii, Oahu to be exact.
Oahu is the third largest island and home of Duke Kahanamoku, the surf legend  who made surfing populair and has it's own statue on the shores of Waikiki Beach. And what about Buzz's lunch and diner the favorite spot of Obama, oh man their burgers are delicious. On the island you can find one National Park, called Pearl Harbor, this is the place where Japan attacked the US and the beginning for the US of World War II. Very impressive is the monument for the USS Arizona which sunk with most of it's crew and is still laying on it's exact spot since the attack. Haleiwa is the village to start your journey to the North Shore, here on the North Shore lots of surf competitions are held. End your day with a Longboard beer from the Kona Brewery or a shaved ice from Matsumoto. Aloha!

Loomis Dean was the son of a grocer and a schoolteacher, and originally from Monticello, Florida. He became fascinated with photography while watching a friend print a photograph in a darkroom, and later chose to study photography at the Eastman School of Photography in Rochester, New York.
In 1947, he joined the staff of Life, photographing such stars as Elvis Presley and Lucille Ball. In August 1950 Life Magazine published pictures of a day on the beach at San Onofre, California.
