Delaware is the first State of the United States erected in 1787, it is the second State in terms of size (only Rhode Island is smaller).The first settlers in the 17th century were the Dutch and the Swede. The name Delaware is taken from the nickname of Sir Thomas West, the governor of Virginia, who was called "Lord de la warr".  Dover is the capitol of Delaware and Wilmington the biggest city. These are more or less the highlights of this State, not really a holiday destination.

LONGING FOR SOME WAVES

Sitting in my chair after a small surgery, I just longing for some waves. Not that they are that big as above on our Dutch coast, but for me as a beginner big enough to enjoy.

THE COMEBACK OF THE BOW & TIE

These pictures are from the S/S Lookbook of Pierrepont Hicks, founded by Mac & Kat. Mac does the numbers and Kat the design, every tie is produced in New York City's Garment District. From today I'm sure, I can wear a bowtie myself aswell. In Holland you can find Pierrepont Hicks exclusive at Frans Boone, Sluis.

When I was a kid and I went shopping with my Mom, she gave me a car from Matchbox. At home, I couldn't wait to open the box and play with it. Should those guys, who got their car also be so happy with it as I was? Great marketing stunt from buro UbachsWisbrun/JWT

STARS & STRIPES, ONE TRIP PASS

Last year October I visted San Fransico and I saw an exhibit in the Levi's Flagship Store on Union Square, not knowing what was going on there. Today I found out on GQ.com, that this was a project of One Trip Pass. Jay Caroll was hired by Levi's for bringing the pioneer-vibe to their store. Caroll spent a month sourcing vintage clothing warehouses, drugstores, antique stores and old mercantile shops buying up everything from Steve Mcqueen style windbreakers, old flags, yo-yo's to Pendleton blankets.

NO KNOTTING

The Unabashedly Prep had this post on his blog the other day and I must say, those bracelets are fun. Made by Kiel James Patrick, in Rhode Island made them even more preppy as they already look.

PREPPY IN MADRAS

BOOK MANIA MONDAY

Island Life by India Hicks

This book give me inspiration to transfer the house from the cosy warm winter style into a summerstyle cottage with influence from the Bahamas. India Hicks is the daughter of designer David Hicks and she had to say granddad to Louis Lord Mountbatten. She moved to the Bahamas after a career as model and on that Island she opened a hotel and decorated 3 homes which you can see in the book.

The people who know me, know that I'm a "America Freak". I like to travel around through the different States and enjoy the nature and the city's. As from next Sunday I will put every week another State in the spotlight starting with the first one, Delaware.

TOYOTA LAND CRUISER vs. J.CREW

It's a Japanese Icon, the Toyota Landcruiser. The heritage of this car dates back to 1951, when the first Land cruiser was produced. It's a great preppy SUV, which is confirmed by J.Crew who uses the Land Cruiser often in their advertisements.

GANT SALTY DOG

In the beginning of the 90's Crystal Brands was the manufacturer of GANT, Salty Dog sportswear. In 1995, Phillips van Heusen acquired the Gant brand in the U.S. from bankrupt Crystal Brands Inc. I like the necktag.

SPRING IS IN THE AIR

With the Eastern weekend ahead, and daylight saving time in progress, it's time to change your wardrobe

into spring aswell. Get rid of those thick flannel shirts, no buffalo checks anymore. Now it's time for some nice oxfords or poplins. The examples above are from the Rugby collection, but I'm sure you can find some for yourself from every self respecting brand.
