THE BEACH HOUSE OF MR. RRL - DOUG BIHLMAIER

Mister Mort had the change to take a peak in Doug Bihlmaier's beach house. We all know Doug as Mr. RRL, he started in the 80s as a stylist for Ralph Lauren, developing the looks for the showrooms, stores and advertisements. Today he is Head of Ralph Lauren Vintage. His beach house is packed with Americana, you can see his love for Indian art as well. I don't know whether the picture of the kid in the cowboy suit is Doug in his younger years, but if it's him it make sense why he loves Western & Indian art.

ARE YOU READY FOR THEM?

The countdown has started, just 15 days before Pitti Uomo 2012. On the picture the most famous bloggers, like The Sartorialist, Mister Mort, Tommy Ton & Guerreisms. These guys are ready to hunt you down and shoot the Peacocks of the coming Fashion Fairs. Most of the Peacocks already know what to wear sprezzatura @ Pitti and what kind of workwear @ Bread & Butter. Do you already know what to wear on the coming Fashion Fairs?

BANDANA = TO TIE

A bandana (from the Hindi word बन्धन bandhana, "to tie") is a type of large, usually colorful piece of cloth printed in a paisley pattern. A paisley pattern resembling a twisted teardrop, the kidney-shaped paisley is Iranian and Indian in origin, but it's western name derives from the town of Paisley , in central Scotland. There are many ways of using a bandana, you can use it like the cowboys did or the gang's of New York and Los Angeles. I rather like the look of a bandana as a scarf or as a pocket square.

NOT A GRUMPY OLD MAN

This is how you don't look like a grumpy old man, when wearing a short sleeve shirt.

Michael Bastian Fall 2010
Gant Rugger, Bleecker Street
Gant Fall 2010
Tommy Ton

Billy Reid Fall 2010

No, not those double cuff or French cuff as you like, but really a double cuff. Seen on the fashion shows of Michael Bastian, Gant and Billy Reid and already shot by Tommy Ton & Mister Mort on the street. So if you love to have dirty laundry and have no problems with ironing you can start layering for those colder days of Fall 2010.

ALL ABOARD....

I read a post on the GANT Rugger blog about old rail road tickets. That reminded me of this picture on Mister Mort's blog of a hat from The New York, New Haven Railroad. This is the way Mr. Bernhard Gantmacher,  founder of the GANT brand followed. Arriving in New York in 1914, he started to make shirts for Brooks Brothers and others, after several years he started in 1949 in New Haven, CT.  GANT Shirtmakers. The rest is history......

OLD STUFF, BECOME NEW STUFF.

The Bucket hat worn by those old preppy guys, is back in fashion. As you can see in the fashion show of Dsquared and on the blog of Close Up and Private. They bought theirs a J.Press or Brooks Brothers. Make sure, that you get one yourself before you'll be an old prepstar.

HUDSON BAY STRIPE

Designers pay attention to this!! After a lot of Buffalo checks  in shirts and other fashion items last seasons, we can't ignore the another American icon, "The Hudson Bay Stripe". It dates back to the 18th century, in that time the fabric and it's famous stripe was just used for blankets. Those blankets were used to trade beaver pelts with the native Indians.
