GET YOUR OWN MUGSHOT

The enamel mug was part of a soldier's mess kit. As a recruit he would march to the cookhouse with mug, knife, fork and spoon. During field manoeuvres and on active service the mug would never be far away, threaded to one of straps of his haversack in the field, ready for immediate use, day or night.  After the WWII we got more spare-time and were able to go out hiking and camping and those mugs are great for this as well. Today they are still used for this purpose but they are also a great advertisement tool. Above you find some good examples from Edwin Jeans, Penfield, Sanborn Canoe Company and General Quarters LA. CHAD MEETS BLAIR OF GENERAL QUARTERS, LOS ANGELES

During my trip, I had the chance to pay a visit to a store called General Quarters on La Brea Av., This is a very hip part of LA, with stores like Undefeated, Union, Stussy & American Rag. But General Quarters is different, Blair Lucio welcomes you heartily and that's a world of difference comparing to the other stores. Blair told me that he started 3 years ago with just a credit card and his love for some great brands like, Filson, Gant Rugger, Pendleton, Scott NYC, Tellason etc. He only sells what he would wear himself.  The funny thing is the next day we met again @ the Rose Bowl flea, it's a small  world after all.
