CHAD'S STORELOCATOR: J.PRESS X YORKSTREET - NEW YORK

J.Press, gentlemen's clothing store since 1902 teamed up with the brothers Ovadia and developed the Yorkstreet collection. As J.Press closed down it's Madison Ave. store this is the only J.Press Store in whole New York. The location is Bleecker Street with next door neighbors like Gant Rugger & Brooks Brothers Black Fleece. The store has a lot of heritage and links with the Ivy League background of J.Press, with "Handsome Dan" the Yale bulldog as mascot. 

DOUBLE RL & THE LOVE FOR VINTAGE MOTORCYCLES

Surfing the net I found these great pictures of the Double RL, Soho store. They had some amazing vintage motorcycles on display in there flagship store from the turn of the century. Saying turn of the century means the 1900's. American bikes like an Indian and Harley Davidson, but also for me total unknown bikes like the Yale and Thor.

Thor motorcycles were made by The Aurora Machine and Tool Company, which began as a machine shop in 1886, providing forging, castings and parts for many bike manufacturers.

The history of Thor is closely tied to the history of Indian motorcycles.

The Yale motorcycle was built by the Consolidated Manufacturing Company based in Toledo, Ohio, after they had acquired the rights to the California motorcycle. The California is famous as the first internal combustion vehicle to cross the American continent in 1903.

GANT CAMPUS STORE, HAARLEM

Today it was the launch of the second Gant Campus Store in The Netherlands, last year the brand with the roots in New Haven, CT & Yale opened the first one in Maastricht. Haarlem is the place to be for up to date prepstars. The store brings the best of Gant Mainline, Gant by Michael Bastian and unique in the Benelux a collection of Gant Rugger. I had the chance to get my Yale shirt personalized. The evening was filled with beer, Ketel 1 cocktails or straight and Hamburgers like the ones you get at Louis Lunch in New Haven, CT. The Gant Campus breathes Ivy Leaugue, Rowing, Campus Library, everything is well thought, like the wall paper with ads from the early 50's. And what to say about the oars used for a wall unit or the desk at the front. If you close your eyes you see Mr. Bernard Gant himself placing the orders of the fabrics for the shirts. GANT ANTWERP FALL 2012

Just saw some inspiring windows of the GANT Flagship Store in Antwerp. They open the season with the Fall/Winter collection of Gant by Michael Bastian called "It's Your Lucky Day" and a "sweatshop" inspired window for the GANT Yale campaign. It's even possible to personalize your GANT Yale shirt with your initials. How cool is that????

GANT RUGGER FOR A CLEAN CUT

GANT Rugger has it's own department in the basement of the Gant Flagship Store on Regent Street, London. It ain't tucked away there, no it get's the right environment and feeling here. The furniture and props are a great add-on to the products designed by Christopher Bastin. I very much like the window, Gant Rugger is a cut above the rest.

THE SHIRT THAT DRESSED YALE

The first GANT shirts were worn by Yale students and professors. Their desire for a more comfortable and relaxed fashion helped make New haven, the hometown of both GANT and Yale, the style capital of the entire East Coast collegiate world. To celebrate the homecoming of GANT in New Haven, the Yale Co-op shirt, has been re-launched. The shirt remains true to the 1960s original it comes in 10 basic and 4 seasonal styles.
