STEPPIN' OUT STORE NBR. 15 - AMSTERDAM

Yesterday, Steppin' Out opened it's doors at Gelderlandplein, Amsterdam. They revealed their new and elevated store concept.

Steppin' Out started in 1983 in Utrecht as a second-hand store, students easily found the way for a vintage tweed jacket or a nice shirt. Today Steppin' Out has 15 stores in The Netherlands, still a go to heaven for the prepsters around us. Stocked with products from brands like William Lockie, Barbour, Sebago and many more, but also a great collection Steppin' Out shirts, pants, knits etc.

This new concept store has the influence of a Long Island beach house combined with an English Estateand a touch of a New York loft. Warm wood, crisp tiles and colors in summer white and denim blue, steel elements and a tin ceiling above the cash desk.

Hope to see you soon in Amsterdam.

TOMMY HILFIGER COLLECTION SS 2017 @ NYFW

Nearly every other American designer at New York Fashion Week: Men’s opted for exotic destinations for their spring collection inspirations. But not Tommy Hilfiger. The designer stayed with his Americana theme, revisiting some signature pieces from his personal archives. But those pieces were transformed to be more modern in their proportions and materials.
Hilfiger’s trademark stripe was used throughout the line, in everything from patchwork sweaters and tracksuits to technical parkas with reengineered rugby stripes. Other graphic details included floral prints that worked best in pajama bottoms and voluminous belted shorts.
Refined athleticism reigned in technical anoraks and an evening pant that mimicked a fitted jogger — complete with the subtle stripe on the ankle as a paneling detail.
In a time when the most influential designers of the now are looking back at Nineties iconic moments from trendsetters such as Hilfiger, it’s refreshing to see the originator celebrate his own heritage. (thanks to Fashionably Male)
And no this is not what you gonna see in the showrooms throughout Europe unfortunately!

TOMMY DENIM - PEOPLE'S PLACE ORIGINALS SS16

Recently, I met Kevin Payne at the Tommy Hilfiger Showroom in Amsterdam. Kevin is the director of Graphics and Branding at Tommy Hilfiger, but next to that he is a vintage geek and that's where it all started. The People's Place Originals capsule collection pays homage to People's Place, the first store Tommy Hilfiger opened as a teenager along with two friends in his hometown of Elmira, New York in 1969. It became one of the coolest hangouts in this small town. The People's Place Originals collection was first offered in Spring 2015, the seasonal collections are sold alongside Hilfiger Denim's collections.

For the SS16 collection, Kevin took his inspiration from the skate and surf scene of the West Coast. The cool and relaxed vibe of California, with places like Venice Beach and Santa Monica in the 70's. He found some great items at the Rosebowl flea market which inspired him to do some heavy washes on T-shirts and combine Hawaii print shirts with Army Jackets. It's a small capsule which contains as said sun faded Hawaii shirts, Army Jackets with patches, sun bleached T-shirts with surf prints and some beautiful selvedge denims of Italian fabrics. The collection is rich of details with special made People's Place buttons, hangtags etc. and even the showroom breaths a vibe of Venice Beach with some great vintage furniture, skate-and surfboards placed everywhere.

Be patient because the Tommy Denim People's Place SS16 Collection will be in store as of Feb. 2016.
