Today I met the brothers Jan & Patrick Olyslager, who put their father's brand Morrison new on the market with beautiful knits in fair-isle and washed down checked shirts. Furthermore they had some beautiful shoes of MOMA on their stand. Whenever you will be in Antwerp, visit their store in Nationalestraat 20 and see it yourself or check http://www.morrison.be/

GET FRAMED....
Moscot Eyewear is an institution in New York. Hyman Moscot, arrived from Eastern Europe via Ellis Island in 1899 and began selling ready-made eyeglasses from a pushcart on Orchard Street on Manhattan’s famed Lower East Side. In 1915, having establishing himself in the neighborhood as the “go-to” guy for glasses, Hyman opened what would become MOSCOT’s first retail space at 94 Rivington Street. Fast forward almost 100 years and fourth generation Moscot brothers are still flying the flag and their frames keep getting better and better. As your glasses ain't just to see better it also gives you that xtra OEMPH. Watch out to become a "Geek" when wearing the wrong glasses.

J.CREW SPRING 2010
Frank Muytjens, the head menswear designer for J.Crew, has an eye for modern masculine style. Several years ago, the brand had made a name for itself as a leading preppy retailer : the go-to for critter chinos and madras cargo shorts. Thanks to Frank though, the J.Crew men's collection has become the favorite among american style aficionados, including myself. For Spring 2010. On my list for must-have spring items, a pair of dirty white jeans is crucial. Though white is the classic spring/summer color, it can be a little too clean. The distressed denim adds to the whole casual "cool" factor of the brand. The chambray shirt, an american icon, is taken to another level when slimmed down and offered in a variety of washes. I will hunt New York down to find this green checked shirt. Mr. J.CREW when will you row your boat to Europe?
LET IT BLEED!!
Madras is a lightweight cotton fabric with typically patterned texture and plaid design, used primarily for summer clothing—pants, shorts, dresses and jackets. The fabric takes its name from the former English name of the city of Chennai, India (Madras) . This cloth also was identified as, "Madrasi checks." Madras is hand-dyed, hand-warped, hand-woven and hand-finished in almost 200 tiny Tamil villages. And all these precious, time honored crafts are encouraged and protected by the government of India.
One style popular during the 1960s was called bleeding Madras. It used dyes that were not colorfast in a typically plaid design, resulting in bleeding and fading colors that yielded a new look to the fabric each time it was laundered. In the clot's heyday, over 150.000 new plaid patterns were fashioned, using homemade vegetable dyes that bled, ran and blended to create a stunning effect. So whenever you put on your Madras plaid think about it's history.

INTO THE WILD......
Filson was founded in 1897 in Seattle as an outfitter for trappers and hunters on their way to Alaska to seek their fortune. Thanks to its 100+ year heritage, and amazing faithfulness to detail and authenticity, the brand is still going strong. Filson’s bags are a tastemaker favorite and are sold in limited quantities to fashion influencer stores. They showed their Fall 2010 collection at the Bread & Butter and not just the bags are tastemakers, also their jackets.

RUGGED AMERICA?
No, this ain't coming from the States and not even from Japan, it's "un marque" from France.
Hartford showed their Fall 10 collection at the Bread & Butter in Berlin and as you can see, they really looked at the brands from Japan and America and they give the Rugged American Outdoor a French flair.

MONDAY BOOK MANIA
Normally I show just one book, but as I'm preparing my trip to New York, I've got a pile of books on my desk, in which I browse. First of all the book you can't go without on your trips DK Eyewitness travel guides, New York. The other books just give me the pre-pleasure of the Big Apple. Beautiful pictures of must see places, buildings and even the hot dog stand looks perfect on the picture.

GREEN
Didn't I told you!!
"This shot captures two of the biggest trends I've seen on the gentleman of Pitti Uomo this season. First, green as an impact color. I don't know if it's just me or if all the really cool guys seem to be working a dash of green into their best looks lately.
Second, turtlenecks in every proportion. Either big and chunky and worn with a peacoat/ parka or slim and sleek and worn with a suit or sportscoat." This picture and comment was posted by The Sartorialist.
COLORS OF THE FALL 2010
Whether it's Italian Cashmere or not, you can't go without these colors for Fall 10. Shades of grey, brown, burgundy, a little splash of purple & yellow, blue tones and don't forget GREEN. I would prefer a more dark green like hunter green.
