JUST GIVE ME A SIGN - A NUTMEGGER PLEASE

Yesterday I was cleaning my computer with tons of links etc of stuff I like and I bumped into a link to the Nutmegger Workshop and this I must share with you. What a great looking signs does he make, it puts you back in another time period.

But who is he? Peter Vogel started his career 30 plus years ago in graphic design, but his true passion is working with type and designing with letterform. Vintage sign making came out of nowhere. He made a small sign to commemorate the place where he proposed to his wife, then a big one measuring 11 feet after seeing an old sign while on vacation in New England. Soon friends were asking where he had gotten them, and the business was born.

SUNDAY BOOKMANIA -THE WEST BY RICHARD PHIBBS

Well finally it's sunday, time to pick up that beautiful coffeetable book that you have. Like I picked up The West by Richard Phibbs.

Phibbs's love of the West came naturally. He was born in Calgary, Alberta, home to Canada's Calgary Stampede, one of the world's great rodeos. The landscapes of Phibbs's childhood are the background of his most evocative and authentic images: stark plains and endless prairies, weathered barns and fences, an empty horizon rolling to an open sky. This minimalism rooted in nature shaped Phibbs's aesthetic from the beginning.
Peopling the western landscapes of his childhood was that archetypal hero, the cowboy. Phibbs's modern cowboys are sensitively rendered; looking into their eyes, you connect with decades of tradition while experiencing an electric shock of immediacy.
Phibbs's artful images — iconic portraits of cowboys, horses as wild and free as the wide-open spaces, a dog working its herd with skillful grace, a saddle weathered with work and time — find their deserved setting in Paredes's careful editing, with comparisons and contrasts that amplify each photo's emotional resonance. With the eye that brings Ralph Lauren's vision to life in stores and showrooms around the world, Parades crafts a book that is, truly, a tribute to the American spirit.

IAN BERRY AKA DENIMU - PAINTING WITH DENIM

Denimu (Ian Berry) is a British born artist currently based in Sweden. He creates artwork solely from denim; re-using jeans, jackets, and other denim clothing to create portraits, urbanscapes and other unique works. In 2013, Denimu was named as one of Art Business News "30 under 30" influential artists in the world.
Berry began experimenting with denim artwork while at university and then while working at TMW as an art director. His process involves cutting, stitching, and glueing various shades of denim to provide contrast and shadow. His works have featured Icon's of Denim such as James Dean and Marilyn Monroe.

ME&HIM&YOU - CITY ART

When I was looking for some "art" to decorated the freshly painted walls of my living room
I found these amazing prints of cities I have been and of cities which are still on my bucket list.
And yesterday the mail dropped me my order of the 4 prints. New York, Chicago, San Fran & Seattle.
The only thing now is frame them.

me&him&you is a design company founded in 2010 by Ronan Dillon and Peter O'Gara based in Dublin City Centre.
These modern, striking, monochrome city prints are part of a series of quirky and humorous 'Open Edition' screen prints, each individually signed in pencil. Each print has pictured the most recognized buildings of the city plus it's most populaire drink.
I can't wait to hit the first nail in the wall to hang them.

I WANT YOU AND I WANT YOU NOW!

US Navy recruitment posters are as old as the USA. Famous artists like J.C. Leyendecker made this patriotic art, with brave man fighting for their country and seeing the world. The colors of those posters are mostly done in red, white and blue referring to the colors of the flag.
Unfortunately are those recruitment posters of all time even today, they are more necessary then ever. It's a scary situation out there.
