THE EARNEST SEWN CO.

Earnest Sewn is a denim brand, which sets itself apart by updating the American heritage lifestyle and brings a collection of denim and denim related products, that shows a commitment to quality and workmanship. Designed and launched by Scott Morrison, the name stands for "product sewn in earnest". There are in total 3 stores, one in Malibu, CA and two in New York. The idea of the interior is of an old general store, polished copper tin ceilings, industrial lighting fixtures and brickwork. They don't just sell their own denim products, but also brands like Barbour, Moscot, Filson, Molskine. I was lucky to visit both stores in New York in February. Visit them yourself on: 821 Washington Street (Meatpacking) and 90 Orchard Street (Lower East Side) and when you travel to Malibu, CA., you can find them 3835 Cross Creek. Half Dutch, half American, Laura Jansen opened Mood over West with her cover of the biggest hit of Kings of Leon, Use Somebody. What a great voice this singer/songwiter has.

Today was my first day of surfing this year. I wasn't lucky, no walls, no waves, not nothing, just some paddle exercise, and that hurts on my arms.

This is where you can find New Jersey

The 3rd State is New Jersey, who joined the Union in 1787. Most of you will arrive in the US via Newark, NJ for a trip to NewYork. New Jersey is bordered by Pennsylvania, Delaware and New York. It was first claimed by the Dutch, who called it New Netherland and also here we met the Swedes, who called their part New Sweden. How original. It's nickname is the Garden State, no more no less, just because the people of New Jersey like gardening. When visiting New Jersey don't forget to pay a visit to Atlantic City, this is the Las Vegas of the East Coast and Cape May, this beautiful City is the most Southern City of NewJersey, packed with Victorian style houses. Cape May is for sure, worth a detour.

YOU'VE GOT MAIL....

Not just a beautiful day because of the BBQ and the wheather, also because of what's in the mailbox. Today I received my order of my Pierrepont Hicks bowtie. After several hours of practice, I  can make myself a bowtie.

NATIONAL PARKS OF AMERICA PART 1

 

I'm a big fan of the National Parks of America, and I will always visit one or more on my trips. Between 1935 and 1943 a special government project let American artists, all over the country make the above shown posters. They where used by the local Chamber of Commerce as a marketing tool to get visitors to the parks etc. They were not for sale. Due to their fragile nature only a few original posters have survived to this day. These rare images were rescued and restored by Ranger Doug.

Not completly ready yet, but this is the first glimpse of GANT Rugger @ Mood over West. For sure that it will be ready for the Grand opening this Thursday, I will keep you posted!!!!
