SHOWROOM VISIT - MASON'S FALL/WINTER 2015

During the 1970s, the American marcatino in Livorno was a slice of America on Italian ground, a collection of objects, military garments, and gadgets of all kinds admired by collectors with passion or simple curiosity. America was literally within reach of the community. It was in this precise context that the Mason's Brand matured: the idea of creating civilian garments that conserve the aesthetic characteristics, durability, and functionality of military garments.

An undeniable style was being born, that which would last through the years and exemplify the excellence and artisanship of Made in Italy along with the functionality and avante garde of those military garments. This was the essence of the Mason's character, a resistant and essential wardrobe of the highest quality in both style and materials.

Awareness of the potential of this combination of a strong Italian artisanal tradition with military inspiration did not occur immediately: it was followed by an instinct and an application of great know-how and intuition. We knew the starting point, but, in that initial moment, the horizons were many. Today we know that the way was indicated and the evolution circulated and brought back to its origin not by accident: it brought us to the Italianity, taste for beauty, and importance placed on quality and significant details that make Mason's 100% Made in Italy.

AMERICAN STYLE THE ITALIAN WAY

Last week I visited the Mason's Clothing showroom in Antwerp. During the 1970's the American Marcatino (Flea market) in Livorno was a piece of America on Italian ground, military garments, and gadgets of all kinds admired by collectors with passion for Americana. It was in this context that the Mason's brand matured: the idea of creating civilian garnets that conserve the aesthetic and characteristics, durability, and functionality of military garments. A style was born Americana the Italian way. For spring/summer 2013 the Mason's collection is not just military styled chino's and camouflage jackets, but also a full range of 5 pockets and chino's in the colors of the rainbow and more. During the Pitti Uomo, Florence they showed a special collection presented with backlight, the idea was just to have a showstopper, but the reaction where so good that they will bring this collection on the market next spring. CHAD @THE MODEFABRIEK, AMSTERDAM

Yesterday I spent a few hours @ The Modefabriek, I started with a nice cup of coffee served by Deco. Found a some nice 5 pockets by Atelier Noterman a Belgium brand with it's roots way back in the 40s of the last century. Goodies from New Balance form the Us, Uk and Far East collection. Sebago not just for the boat but also for the street as from ss 2013 in a beautiful Horween leather quality. Mason's showed their "Backlight" collection of painted shorts, jackets and T-shirts, but also a great scala of colors in pants and shirts. My favorite area was Blueprint with labels like Lee & Lee 101, Filson, Blue Blood, Nudie, Wolverine, Brass Midori, Dickies etc etc.
