THE BROOKLYN CIRCUS + CHAMPION FOR TODD SNYDER

Founder of Brooklyn Circus, Ouigi Theodore focuses on urban apparel, hats, and shoes that sport a vintage feel. His clothing gets respect for its quality, and his attention to detail has found him collaborating with brands like New Era, and now Todd Snyder, and Champion for a collection inspired by boxing, and more specifically, Muhammad Ali.

Borrowing from the feeling that must have stirred the air at Fighter’s Heaven, while Ali trained there in the 1970s, Theodore created this boxing inspired collection that show a vintage sportswear feel, and take elements from Ouigi Theodore’s aesthetic like a 1920 logo that speaks to his grandmother’s birth year in tribute to her.

Todd Snyder did it again, he has a great feeling of making the best collaborations in fashion!

PLEASED TO MEET - OUIGI THEODORE

This is the first post in a serie of portraits about men and their style. Meet Mr. Ouigi Theodore also known as the Bearded Man. Quincy "Ouigi" Theodore was born in Haiti and moved as a child to Brooklyn, NY. where he quickly became known as the local swagger.
After graduating from the State University at Stony Brook with a degree in history, he studied graphic design at the Fashion Institute of Technology. He worked as a graphic designer by day and club promoter by night. But his high-wattage personality did not lend itself to a desk job, so he scraped together $8,000 and opened his shop The Brooklyn Circus. Although he originally helped design the clothes at Brooklyn Circus under the BKc label, Mr. Theodore now farms out the designing, casting himself more as an idea-generator and curator. He's been wearing and collecting vintage clothing long before vintage clothing was "mainstream" and he basically trademarked the Beard + Neckerchief combo.

THE BROOKLYN CIRCUS

I promised you yesterday some goodies, well here they are! Last saterday I visited The Brooklyn Circus shop. The guys were so nice to let me shoot some pictures to share with you. I very much like the style of the updated varsity inspired clothes and the old props, like the football helmets etc. You can see and feel that everything they do in the store is with love, how they present the garments and how they welcome and help the customers, like myself.

"The Brooklyn Circus/BKc story begins in 2006 in a quaint neighborhood of Brooklyn, New York with the aim to strengthen consumers’ appreciation for classic aesthetics and antique motifs whilst upholding the pillars of modern design within a hundred year plan. With time-tested values of classic American craftsmanship, a love for urban tradition, vintage sensibilities, and an endless search for the timeless silhouette"

BEADED BELTS NOT JUST FOR INDIANS

Add some color to your outfit by wearing a Native American inspired beaded belt. These belts are a true color block. The first known beaded belts where made by the Indians to mark exchanges for marriage as well as for ceremony and condolence ceremonies. When Europe came to the Americas these beaded belts where used as a currency to trade with. Today you must pay with local currency to get such a beautiful belt from Will leather goods.
