GANT RUGGER - WINTER GARDEN FW 2014

Christopher Bastin & Satoshi Kawamoto

A japanese gardening book written by Satoshi Kawamoto, served as the inspiration point for Gant Rugger's fall collection. The mixture of British tailoring and the every day prep school look translated best in a navy pinstripe suit in a wool-cotton jersey blend and a indigo oxford kimono which was layered on top of a varsity hooded jacket, executing a great combination of soft and washed textures.

Al PACINO MEETS CHRISTOPHER BASTIN

During the 1970s, FBI undercover agent Donnie Brasco (Johnny Depp) infiltrated in a New York mob family and worked together with Lefty Ruggiero (Al Pacino). Lefty can't seem to make enough money, his son is a drug addict and he is continually passed over for promotion within the crime family. He continually reminds Brasco of his growing disillusionment about having spent 30 years as a wiseguy (and killing 26 people), with little to show for it.

In Donnie, at least, Lefty sees a young protégé who might be able to succeed where he failed. He takes Donnie under his wing. Donnie quickly becomes accepted by the other family members, as an "associate" (the lowest Mafia rank describing people who have criminal ties to the Mafia but are not actual members) and is later nearly officially inducted into the mob as a "made man."

Al Pacino wears a double breasted fur collar coat in the movie. The question is, was this the inspiration for GANT Rugger designer Christopher Bastin to design the High Roller?  An old man's coat fully lined with fake fur. Pimp meets Prep, next level steez.

TEAM AMERICANO - GANT RUGGER

Team Americano–GANT Rugger designer Christopher Bastin sees the label’s signature take on tailored classics in a new light for the spring/summer 2013 season, feeding the latest collection through his experience at Pitti Uomo. Considering the best of American sportswear styled in an Italian manner, crisp blazers and solid crewneck sweaters are an ideal pairing for khakis, twill shorts and other essentials, delivered in linen, jersey and other summer-weight fabrics. CONGRATULATIONS STOFFE

As announced earlier today from Sweden, Christopher Bastin has been named creative director across all GANT collections effective August 1st. Bastin, who has been manning the helm at GANT Rugger since 2009, has been with the company since 2005. Besides being one of the friendliest guys in the industry, Chris has been a big part of the brand's identity, and Rugger's resurgence. We're looking forward to seeing his impact on the main collection, and across the board. Congrats, sir

SPREZZATURA ON WHEELS

The Fiat 500 turned 55 this year, was first produced in 1957, when the economy was booming. The idea was to give the new Italian middle-class a car that could be used everyday from the short daily commute to the longer family vacation. The Fiat 500 became the symbol of a stylish and cosmopolitan Italian lifestyle. A modern design, appealing colors, easiness in driving: the car was exactly what people needed. The truly affordable price also helped it become an extreme popular car. Even these days it's a very popular car under designers like Christopher Bastin of GANT Rugger (pic via rippedbackpocket)

GANT Rugger Nouveau Prep

American in Marocco

American Preppy

I found these pics on the internet of the coming Spring/Summer 2012 collection of Gant, Gant Rugger and Gant by Michael Bastian. It seems that the Gant mainline collection is divided in "All American Prep" and "An American in Morocco" theme. Gant Rugger is cleaner then ever and is called "Nouveau Prep". The first picture is the Gant by Michael Bastian collection, a collection with a little ALOHA, I guess!! Antonio and Christopher are discussing who will win the next CDFA award this, we all know by now that Michael Bastian did.

GANT RUGGER FALL 2011 LOOKBOOK

Christopher Bastian, the designer of GANT Rugger  played wikileaks on his blog Rippedbackpocket, check his blog for more of it. I like the Fair Isle sleeveless cardigan and the red herringbone Baseball jacket. I do not see myself walking around with long-johns and a fur hat......
