WHO IS THAT GUY?

That's a good question, you always see him on the left of my blog, but who the f.... is he?
Well I "met" him last year during my trip on the East Coast of the United States in the State of Maine.
In Bangor to be specific. It's a statue of Mister Paul Bunyan. Bangor, Maine claims to be both the birthplace of the lumber industry and the birthplace of the mythic character.  The statue was donated to bangor in 1959 on bangor's 125th anniversary and designed by a local artist called J. Norman Martin, who was paid $ 137 for his effort. I like the guy, wearing his Buffalo checked shirt and workboots. He represents for me the"Rugged Americana" look.

BRING YOUR OWN....

Do I have to say more.....?

MONDAY BOOK MANIA

A privileged life, written by Susanna Salk

This book is all about the preppie or Wasp (White Anglo Saxon Protestant) lifestyle of the East Coast. How they dress, how they party, where they go to school and which sports they do. It's a great inspirational book for American Sportswear lovers.

GINGHAM

The Gingham

The name comes from the Malaysian word GING-GANG, which means striped. Others say that the word came in English via Dutch. When originally imported to Europe in the 17th century it was a striped fabric, though now it is know by it's checkered pattern, most white with another color. Which started as tablecloth is now know for a playfull and stylish pattern for shirts, ties and hankies

GANT Rugger

Yesterday, I went to Herr Judit, I didn't know what to suspect, but this shop is a cool mix of second hand clothes and some hand picked new stuff. They just started with a Gant Rugger corner aswell. The store looks great with the nice antique cabinets, the stairs used by painters covered with paint and the vintage signing of Levi's. Whenever you are in Stockholm visit them on Hornsgatan 65.

HUDSON BAY STRIPE

Designers pay attention to this!! After a lot of Buffalo checks  in shirts and other fashion items last seasons, we can't ignore the another American icon, "The Hudson Bay Stripe". It dates back to the 18th century, in that time the fabric and it's famous stripe was just used for blankets. Those blankets were used to trade beaver pelts with the native Indians.
