ROW, ROW, ROW YOUR BOAT

"LIFE IS NOT A REHEARSEL"

This is the motto of the GANT ROWING RACE. On May 22th. 2010 the first ever GANT Rowing race will be held in Sweden between 2 schools, the SSHL and the Lundsbergs Skola. Tell me what is more Ivy-League than rowing, think HARVARD  vs. YALE or CAMBRIDGE vs. OXFORD.

DON"T BE A SITTIN' DUCK

Decoy shop New England

Ralph Lauren Window, Bleecker Street New York

My own decoy's

Bought my first duck decoy on Cape Cod after that I was always interested in those woodcarved ducks.
2 years ago I saw this window of Ralph Lauren on Bleecker. Decoys give me the real New England feeling.

YOUR IN THE ARMY, NOW!

THE ARMY GYM

Nigel Cabourn opened in August 2009 the Army Gym. Designed to look like an old army gymnasium, the floors are made of concrete and aged wooden planking with vintage army lockers to display the clothing. The changing room resembles an old shower cubicle and giant metal and wood sliding doors line the far walls. This small but beautiful shop showcases the collections so well. Whenever I will buy myself ticket to Japan for sure I will pay a visit to this store in Tokio.

SO YOU NEEDED A NEW JEANS.....

The raw denim on a roll
Pattern making
Before any washing or treatment
Do you want it stonewashed?
Or with whiskers?
Or even more of that?
Ready for shipment...

A few years ago I was so lucky to pay a visit to a denim factory in Italy. These pictures show you a little about how a denim is produced, so now you also understand what effort has to be done to get you a pair of cool denim on your ass.

SADDLE UP..

Over almost a century and a half, Brooks England has grown from a small workshop to a byword in quality craftsmanship. Back in 1865, John Boultbee Brooks left his hometown of Hinckley in Leicestershire with just £20 in his pocket.
He headed for Birmingham, where in 1866 he established a business in horse harnesses and general leather goods in Great Charles Street under the name JB Brooks & Co.In 1878, the unfortunate death of Mr Brooks’ horse led to a stroke of inspiration. Unable to afford another horse, he borrowed a bicycle in order to commute to work. But he found the seat so uncomfortable that he vowed to do something about it. On 28 October 1882, Mr Brooks filed his first saddle patent.

CHINO MEETS HERRINGBONE

No matter if you are a man or a woman, it looks great a  herringbone blazer on a chino, not just a chino, but one with lots of details. (pictures via The Sartorialist and Bold onthestreet)

DON'T MISS THE BOAT....

Ain't she sweet? You don't need a yacht, registered in the Bahama's to wear such a beauty. This is the new IWC Portuguese Yacht Club Chronograph, for the very first time a waterproof Portuguese with rubber strap.

MONDAY BOOK MANIA

Walking through Brooklyn last week, I remembered, that I had this book. Vanashing America, the end of Mainstreet Diners, Drive Ins, Donut shops and other everday monuments, is written by Michael Eastman. It's a great catalog of things that are falling down and coming apart across the US, signs and structures that at, one time seemed to define, what America was. And I guess, they still do, maybe even more so, now that they’re in ruins.
