RALPH LAUREN VINTAGE - HIGH END THRIFT STORE

Ralph Lauren Japan launched RL Vintage a high-end thrift store where you can bring in your old stuff called "bring it back" For now it is just a small selection of Ralph's goodies from the 80s and 90s. It's a pitty that my knowledge of the Japanese language sucks, because you can also find great stories about collectors like The Hovey Sisters, Ali of a Noble Salvage and some Japanese collectors on this site.

DEHEN PORTLAND ON THE FIELD SINCE 1920

Special Edition for The Globe, Arnhem

William Dehen formed Dehen Knitting Company in 1920 and built his business by knitting unique heavyweight wool sweaters that withstood the test of time. Dehen now continues to provide crafted products, still made in Portland, Oregon, often on machines that are older than the people that operate them. Seen on sidelines through the 50’s and 60’s, Dehen’s V-Neck pullover was a staple for yell leaders, coaches and student athletes.

Re-launched for Autumn 2011, the Dehen line showcases their latest collection of well built jackets and sweaters – all featuring the same details and stitch work found on their vintage garments. The Japanese, of course, helped bring the Dehen name back onto the playing field. The Globe, Arnhem has their own special heavyweight wool V-neck sweater in Burgundy & Black. This sweater has "1969" instead of the brands "1920" on the chest.

STORE LOCATOR - THE GLOBE, ARNHEM

"THE GLOBE - AUTHENTIC & ORIGINAL SINCE 1969"

The Globe is located in a historic building from the 15th century, the oldest stone building in Arnhem.
When I entered the store I bumped into the owner Harry Wonder, his eyes filled with passion for authentic brands. I asked him when and how he started the business. He told me that he never finished school, and learned by doing. He sets himself a goal of learning 3 new things a day and even now this is his motto. Before he started the Globe he was a vintage dealer, but then in Italy he saw for the very first time a brand called Stone Island and that was 30 years ago. Harry was the very first dealer of Stone Island in the Netherlands. Bringing the brand to Holland changed his whole world.  He changed his way of working from vintage dealer into a store concept with authentic and original brands not just casuals but also outdoor gear. Even now you see still both influences, brands like Pendleton, Filson, Lee 101, Grenson going hand in hand with brands like Fjallraven and Patagonia.

For a true shopping experience visit Harry and his team Anton & Ricardo @ the Rijnstraat, Arnhem.
