CHAD'S STORE VISIT - ANTIQUE ARCHAEOLOGY, NASHVILLE - TN.

I guess I'm the biggest fan in Holland of American Pickers and that said i had to visit the Antique Archaeology Store in Nashville, TN. When I arrived I saw a great old building which was once the Marathon Car Factory some real American heritage. When I entered the store I was overwhelmed by antiques, no not the junk Frank & Mike finds on their travels trough the States, but old people who made a stop with the hop on hop off trolley. They just enter the store to buy a souvenir like a T-shirt or a mug. Okay I also bought myself a souvenir but I really also enjoyed the stuff I saw and recognized from the television. Whenever you have the change pay them a visit don't let the tourist keep you from seeing a great store in an amazing building. 

MIKE WOLFE'S - PICKERS CASTLE

In November 2013, I wrote a piece on my blog about the  and theseries American Pickers their Nashville store. In the pictures above you can see how a picker creates his castle. What is junk for 1 person is a pearl for the other. I really enjoy to see how pieces are displayed. The best picture for me is the one with the iron lockers, wish I had this in my hallway.

CHAD AT THE ROSEBOWL FLEAMARKET

Yep, I'm back and the coming days I will post some goodies of my trip to the U.S.A.

 Today, I start off with my visit to the Rose Bowl Flea market. This is the place to be for antiques and vintage clothing lovers. It is held every second Sunday of the month around the Rose Bowl stadium in Pasadena, Ca. It's one of the biggest in it's kind and visited from all over the world by vintage lovers, like designers, collectors and prop-hunters. It is hard to find a bargain, but it's a great inspiration.

IT'S A MANS WORLD - FITZROY & EVEREST

Fiztroy & Everest opened it's doors in 1994, in Rotterdam - Kralingen. It was then that Olivier van Schaik decided to make from his passion his job. The store and the workshop are situated in a building from 1898. When you enter the store the first thing you notice is the smell of leather. The store is packed with luggage from years far behind us. Every piece is restored by Olivier leaving it's patina but just give it some love and care. Olivier talks with passion about the items he has in the store, how things where made in the old days, that's what he admires most. Every guy can find something he would like to have in his boys room or driving around his classic car. Behind the store and workshop he has a warehouse packed with great stuff, ready to be restored as you can see in the last pictures.

STORYTELLING STORES

 

For those who follow me already a while, you know that I like stores with a story. The love for old or vintage has been passed on by my parents, who went to antique fairs and flea markets, when I was just a little boy. At that time, I didn't really liked it, so they always promised me french fries. Nowadays you don't have to promise me french fries, just say they have a nice collection and I'm on my way.
