DIRTY THIRTIES

No, sorry no porn on my blog.

The dirty thirties are also known as the Dust Bowl, it was a period of severe dust storms, caused by a big agricultural damage to American prairie lands from 1930 to 1936. This was caused by severe drought together with years of extensive farming without crop rotation. Millions of acres of farmland became useless, and hundreds of thousands of people were forced to leave their homes and migrated to California and other states, where the economic condition was a little better during the Great Depression. Dorothea Lange captured iconic images of the storms and migrant families, the most famous of which was known as "migrant mother"
