CHADS STORE VISIT - J.CREW BOWERY

Last year September J.Crew opened their Liquor Store 2.0 at 316 Bowery on Bleecker Street.

The store is packed with designs of the freshly appointed new menswear designer Brandon Babenzien.

The shop's stylish and eclectic aesthetic aligns nicely with the brand's current Neo Preppy vintage vibe. Warm woods, worn rugs and glazed tiles mix with midcentury light fixtures, along with vintage furniture and artwork. The interior design was the work of Dream Awake, the design firm founded by Babenzien's wife, Estelle.

LEXINGTON CANDY SHOP & LUNCHEONETTE

Whenever you visit New York Upper East you have to pay a visit at the Lexington Candy Shop Luncheonette. This hidden gem on Lexington Ave. serves the community breakfast for over almost a decade. The store is operated by 3 generations since 1925.

Where the interior is an authentic American Diner / Soda Fountain with booths and stools at the bar.

The menu is simple and hearthy, eggs are baked in real butter.

Lexington Candy Shop is located just 3 blocks from the Metropolitan Museum of Art and Museum Mile, on the corner of 83rd Street and Lexington Av.

CHAD'S STORE VISIT - THE ROWING BLAZERS CLUBHOUSE

Wow, it's been a while since my last post on my blog, but now I have a good reason to start posting again. Some weeks ago I had the opportunity to visit the city that never sleeps, also known as the Big Apple and many many other nicknames - New York.

I made a list for this trip which stores etc I wanted to visit, I couldn't make everything happen but one of my favorite brands is and will be on that list. Rowing Blazer by Jack Carlson.

In September 2023, they opened this Clubhouse on Rivington Street. A 115 square meter Flagship store packed with all your favorite Rugby shirts and a curated selection of vintage garments.

The staff is great the help you out with every question you might have and so I walked away with my perfect white polo pique with Rowing Blazer logo.

BROOKS BROTHERS IS B A C K !

 Brooks Brothers is back and how! With Micheal Bastian on the helm they present a fresh look on the old time casual sportswear favorites in a modern preppy way. This first collection by Michael Bastian for Brooks Brothers is inspired by the equestrian style of the East Coast of the US. I love the way Michael Bastian layers his models with the collection, as he also did for his own label and the GANT by Michael Bastian collections. He has a great eye for detail. Go Michael Go rock the Brooks Brothers house!

STEPPIN' OUT FLAG STORE @ WESTFIELD MALL OF THE NETHERLANDS

It has been a while since my last post, but the world stood upside down and we had to be focussed on other things instead of writing nice stories with beautiful pictures on Chad's Drygoods. Luckily everything starts coming back to "normal" again. 

The last few weeks I have been very busy with the realization of our latest store. We opened a beautiful Flagship store in the Westfield Mall of The Netherlands, Leidschendam. 

Steppin' Out started in 1983 in Utrecht as a second-hand store, students easily found the way for a vintage tweed jacket or a nice shirt. Today Steppin' Out has 15 stores in The Netherlands, still a go to heaven for the prepsters around us. Stocked with products from brands like William Lockie, Barbour, Sebago and many more, but also a great collection Steppin' Out shirts, pants, knits etc.

The store concept has the influence of a Long Island beach house combined with an English Estate and a touch of a New York loft. Warm wood, crisp tiles and colors in summer white and denim blue, steel elements and a tin ceiling above the cash desk.
